摘要： 重庆交通大学首任校长穰明德1931年参加中国工农红军，1951年担任川藏公路修建司令部政委。为确保川藏公路顺利通车，穰明德身先士卒，亲自踏勘选线；他倡导技术创新，不仅自己迅速成为公路专家，战士们的筑路技能也因此大幅提高；他关爱下属，同甘共苦，坚持原则，乐观面对一切困难和挫折；他攻破了一道道筑路技术的难关，创造了中国公路史乃至世界公路史上的奇迹。在60多年后的今天，穰明德这种顽强拼搏的“铺路石”精神，值得我们继承和发扬。

Abstract: RANG Mingde, founder of Chongqing Jiaotong University, joined the Chinese Red Army in 1931 and held the post of the political commissar of Sichuan-Tibet highway in 1951. To guarantee its timely opening to traffic, RANG led the survey and route selection himself and advocated technological innovations, and soon became an expert in quickening its building speed. RANG, by sharing the sufferings with the rest builders,overcame kinds of hardships and dangers, worked wonders in the history of road building of China and even the world.Such a great spirit is still worth our memory six decades later.
