Abstract: There are more than one thousand large-middle scale landslides along the railway line in China. The components and properties of slip materials and the genesis of slip zone are main factors of controlling distribution and basic properties of landslides. According to the components of slip bodies, landslides may be classified seven classes including clay slid, loess slid and so on. In addition and the genesis of slip zones, they may be distinguished seven models including structure model, contact model and so on.Comprehensive nomenclature included in both classes and models may fully indicate Various main characteristics of every landslide and would be advantageous to engineering treatment.
