Abstract: Nanshan scenic spot is the area where geological hazard is rather developed in the urban of Chongqing. Based on field observation and investigation, six risk factors resulting in geological hazard includes: terrain slope, formation lithology combination, geological structure, the thickness of accumulation body, groundwater and engineering activities. The value assignment of index is obtained through expert system, and the weight of index is determined by analytical hierarchy process (AHP); the risk zoning assessment model of geological hazard is established. Hereby, based on GIS platform, the risk zoning of geological hazard of Nanshan scenic spot is identified, including slight hazard area, medium hazard area, high hazard area, extremely hazard area. They take up 65. 2%,18. 1%,13. 2% and 3. 5% respectively in area; and these data are consistent with those of actual situation. The research results can provide certain scientific basis for the comprehensive development of land and resources as well as the environmental protection in scenic spot.
