Experimental Investigation of Landslide Dam Failure Influenced By Initial Moisture Content and Manual Intervention

初始含水率及人工干预对堰塞坝溃决影响试验研究

Abstract: In order to explore the landslide dam failure process influenced by initial moisture content, five flume dam- breaking experiments were tested based on initial moisture content of 19.59%,8.9%,5.5%,4.2%,2.97% respectively. According to the investigation results of initial moisture content, the influence of manual intervention measures on the breach flow during the process of dam breaking was discussed by throwing different size of rocks. The experiment results indicate that: firstly,when the initial moisture content of the dam is 5.50%, the peak flow during the dam breaking process of landslide dam is 0.005 5 m3/s. If the moisture content is higher than the high moisture content case (19.59%,8.9%)and low moisture content case (4.2%,2.97%), it is the most disadvantageous initial moisture content. Secondly,the higher the initial moisture content of the dam body is,the faster the “steep ridge” of breach spreads to upstream during the dam breaking process.The nearer the narrowest contraction point of the breach is to the upstream of the dam body, the wider the width of the final breach is. Thirdly,with the decrease of initial moisture content of dam body, the time of dam breaking is prolonged correspondingly and the occurrence time of breach peak flow is delayed correspondingly. Finally,under the most disadvantageous initial moisture content case,throwing stones at the entrance of the breach can reduce the peak flow of the breach, and the peak flow of the breach can be reduced by 5.45%, 10.9% and 14.55% respectively, comparing with the conditions without throwing stones. Moreover, the peak flow appears time lag.The test results show that the initial moisture content of dam body is a very important factor in the process of dam breaking, and it is effective and obvious to control the flow of dam breaking by throwing stones.

摘要: 为了探索堰塞坝的初始含水率对溃坝过程影响,分别选取了初始含水率为19.59%,8.90%,5.50%,4.20%和2.97%的5组土石坝进行水 槽试验。在此基础上,通过抛投不同粒径块石的方法探讨了人工干预措施对溃坝过程溃口流量的影响。试验结果显示:当坝体初始含水率为 5.50%时,堰塞坝溃决过程的峰值流量为0.005 5 m3/s,高于高含水率工况(19.59%,8.9%)和低含水率工况(4.2%,2.97%),为最不利初 始含水率;坝体初始含水率越高,溃坝过程溃口“陡坎”向上游发展速度越快,溃口收缩最窄处越靠近坝体上游,最终溃口宽度越宽;随着 坝体初始含水率降低,溃坝时间相应延长,溃口峰值流量出现时间也相应延后;在最不利坝体初始含水率条件下,向溃口入口处抛投块石对 溃口峰值流量有削减作用,相对无抛投块石工况分别削减5.45%,10.9%和14.55%,并且峰值流量出现时间滞后。试验结果分析表明坝体初始 含水率对于堰塞坝溃决过程是一个十分重要的影响因素,通过抛投块石方法对堰塞坝溃决流量进行控制是有效且明显的。
