    The biased estimates proposed to overcome the ill-conditioned of the design matrix has made considerable headway inthe theory and method,which is used extensively in practice. The principal comconent estimate is one of the importantmethods which has been studied by many pepole. The infinite-sample properties of the principal component estimate aregiver in this paper.

    In this paper,a new type diagonal interchange compounded by semi-cloverleaf and semi-directional type is recom- mended.It is a alternative with a new configuration,a closely arrangement and a beautiful appearance. It can coordinatethe environment arround the interchange and can be amployed in urban distriets and mountainous where therc are restric-tios of topograph and culture. This new type interchange has been adopted in HuangHuayuan interchange in the southernend of JiaLingRive bridge of Chongqing.In this paper,also,the classification system and type of semi-cloverleaf+semi-directional compound interchange isanalysed and the views on the design rnlar of interchange alternative is presented.

    In this paper,based,on the comparison between the DSC pictures and GPC pictures of three China-made asphalts be-fore and after ageing, the endothermic peak of the samples are analysed, in the same time,the perceentage of the spaceoccupied by the different molecular weight before and after ageing, with the help of GPC pictures, is calculated, and the appraisal of the ageing property of the three asphalts is also presented.

    The Application of Newton’s Method to Hydraulic Calculation about Branches of a Channel

    First, in this paper, the energy equation is described in a simple form. Then, according to basic method of hydrauliccalculation about branches of a channel and basic principle of extraction the root with Newton’smethod, the formulas ofinitial value and increment of Newton’s sucessive approximation(double equations)to calculate the folw dividing of branches of channel is established.It is clear that this method can speed up computation rate and improve accuracy of theresults by example. In addition, the difference between Newton’s method for double equations and usual Newton’s methodis analysed,and the geometric implication of Newton’s method for double equations is discussed,and the method of deter-mining section of flow dividing and flow together is also explained.

    It is widely agreed that an important problem in AI is the representation of commonsense knowledge. combined withthe study on the mechanical design expert system, a new knowledge representation method used to select the material ofspare parts based fuzzy decisions is presented in this paper. With the quantification of the knowledge and experienceof designing engineers, the expert system with the aid of this method can make decisions to select the most suitable materi-al after making simple numerical calculation and judgement of threshold value. It is indicated that the new method has leftout the complex inference and raised the design efficiency.
