Optimization of Yellow Signal Duration Considering the TypeⅠ Dilemma Zone

考虑第一类两难区的黄灯信号时长优化

Abstract: The typeⅠdilemma zone caused by yellow signal is one of the potential unsafe factors of traffic accidents. In order to reasonably set yellow signal duration, eliminate the typeⅠdilemma zone and ensure the safety of vehicles running at the intersection, the traffic parameters of vehicle on straight lane and exclusive left-turn lane at the signal intersection with 60km/h speed limit were collected by video observation method. The functional relationship among parameters were established by SPSS analysis software. TypeⅠdilemma zone model was established based on the classic GHM model. The optimization result of yellow light signal duration with different signal phases was obtained by MATLAB simulation. By contrasting the boundaries of dilemma zone, typeⅠdilemma zone can be effectively eliminated when the yellow signal duration of the straight phase is 5 seconds and that of the exclusive left-turn phase is 4 seconds.

摘要: 黄灯信号产生的第一类两难区问题是诱发交叉口交通事故的潜在不安全因素之一。为合理设置黄灯信号时长,消除第一类两难区,确保交叉口车辆运行安全,以限速值为60 km/h的信号交叉口为研究对象,采用视频观测法采集直行和左转专用车道车辆行驶参数,应用SPSS分析软件构建各参数之间的函数关系,基于经典GHM模型建立第一类两难区模型,通过MATLAB仿真获得不同信号相位黄灯信号时长参数优化结果。由两难区边界对比发现,对于限速值为60 km/h的信号交叉口,当直行相位黄灯信号时长为5 s,左转专用相位黄灯信号时长为4 s时,可以有效消除第一类两难区。
