Mixing the polyester fibers, polyacrylonitrile fibers and methyl cellulose respectively into three different gradation types asphalt mixtures:AC,SMA and OGFC,the fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures were formed.Based on the performances tests of the fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures, such as Marshall stability, high temperature rutting, low temperature crack resistance, water stability, skid resistance etc。the strength-mechanism of the fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures was analysed .Contrasting with the testing data of common asphalt mixtures, all the three kinds of fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures performances have improved, and the improvement of polyester and polyacrylonitrile fibers is greater than that of methyl cellulose. In accordance with rutting test data, the optimal designed content of fiber is presented in different traffic.Due to marked economic benefit brought by the fiber-reinforced asphalt mixtures-increasing road life and reducing maintenance costs,it would be applied comprehensively and developed quickly.
