Simulation of Artificial Ground Motion by AREA Model Li Yingmin,Lai Ming,Xiao Mingkui 1996, 15(2): 21-28.  Abstract ( )   PDF (467KB) ( )   Artificial ground motion is one of the basic forms of structural earthquake input. This paper discusses the characteristics of the normal Tri-angle Series Method mostly used in engineering, and studiesa new method to simulate artificial waves from a new point of view. By discussing the dynamic characteristics and statistical properties of Auto-regressive Moving Average(ARMA) Model applied to analyst time series, the peper presents that it is feasible and convenient to describe engineering ground motion. And then,the parameter identification technique is used to determine parmeters of the model,so as to open up the applied range of the model from simulating an earthquake record to simulating ancertain spectral characteristic. Finally, a new method to simulate artifiCial earthquakes by using ARMAModel and parameter identification technique is presented.Simulating the Standard Response Spectra,the paper indicates the practicallity of the method.
