Abstract: The reflective cracking is one of the major damages of the asphalt overlay on old roads and sem-irigid pavement, which badly influence the performance of the pavement. In this paper, an analysis of the reflective cracking generation mechanism, including those caused by thermal shrinkage or loading fatigue,was carried out. Then its extending on latitude and longitude direction and its destruction are stated here on the basis of fracture mechanics. Finally, the paper launched out a few new procedures on how to prevent and cure the reflective cracking.
