This paper studies the effects of the prestress degree, the ratio of shear span to depth and the ratio of stirrup on the ultimate shear strength of the unbonded P.P. C. beams. The results of static loading data of 17 P.P. C. beams with unbonded tendons (straight tendon beams) are analyzed and an empirical formula is proposed. The results of this paper show that the propdsed ultimate shear strength is reasonable. Finally, our formula is compared with that of the P.P.C. beams with bonded tendons.

Up to now, there have been many methods to calculate the laterally loaded pile. However, the results of calculation with these methods are not often compatible with those of experimental measurement. The above problem can be solved by using the method proposed in this paper, and the pile tip boundary condition can be determined at the same time.

Ultimate Load Carrying Capacity of Planar Steel Frames by Column Deflection Curve Method

Abstract

This paper is intended to study a computation philosophy in the analysis of planar steel frames by CDC (Column Deflection Curve) method and increment interaction equations of beam-column (Ref. 4). As for the frame analysis, each beam-column is taken as an isolated member. According to boundary conditions of each member and compatibility deformation conditions of joint membeis, interaction equations of external load increment and deformation increment of a global structure are established. As a result, frame deflection configuration is determined. Finally, the rational value of load increment with interaction equations of external load increment and deformation increment is calculated. The whole analysis of structures can be substantially simplified. Therefore, the CDC method which calculates frames is an effective approach to the contradiction of calculating accuracy and speed.

The electro-hydraulic servo system, a satisfactory equipment, is widely used in test area. As an example, this paper measures the lateral stiffness of a two-storey steel frame with electrohydraulic servo system. During the experiment, a timed-trace data-acquisition program is developed. It proves that the electro-hydraulic servo system can set up ideal restraint conditions, and the programmed data-acquis-ition and analysis result in higher precision of measurement. Key words:Servo control, lateral stiffness, timed-acquisition

The famous bridge-Bridge KRK-has already been presented in our country, but mainly on the problem of the formation of the main arch ring. Based on the information the author obtained in Yugoslavia, in this paper, some other problems of this bridge are added such as:19 competitive schemes of the type of the bridge, the construction of the foundation and columns on the main arch ring etc.

By analysing the backcalculation concept, some major problems in the existing evaluation approach are described. An improved self-iterative model which ensures a unique result is proposed, and FWD measurements made on four test pavements are used to identify the model.

The First Research on Warrants of the Construction of a Pedestrian Facility of a Signal-Controlled Intersection——Analysis and Computation of Pedestrian Capacity on a Crosswalk

After testing the arrival law of pedestrians and vehicles which arrive at a crosswalk of a signal-controlled intersection, according to the newly-promulgated regulation (the Road Traffic Management Regulation), this paper analyses and reckons out the pedestrian capacity on the crosswalk with or without pedestrian islands and signals. In the light of the volume of pedestrian crossing, it proposes the warrants on which the construction of pedestrian islands, signals and bridges or subways depends.

This paper proposes a method to estimate OD distribution of road traffic by using nonlinear programming based on the maximizing entropy principle, and combining an example, it checks its effectiveness. The result indicates that the precision is satisfactory. Thus the method is feasible and has certain practical significance.

The Geometric Nonlinear Analysis of Reinforced-Concrete Girder and Slab Bridges

Abstract

The results of static analysis of reinforced-concrete girder and slab bridges by elasticity theory cannot accord better with facts. For this reason, in this paper, we analyse the geometric nonlinearity of reinforced-concrete girder and slab bridges, propose the model of "orthogonal different thickness uniform slab", use the theory of Mindlin slab, consider the effect of shearing deflection, derive the nonlinear equilibrium equation by the principle of minimum potential energy, and give the solutions of the equation and eqivalent stiffness. Finally, the method of this paper is compared with others by numerical examples.

In this paper, we generalize the Wielandt-Hoffman theorem, one of the important theorems on real symmetric matrix theory, to the corresponding-theorem on Hermitian matrices. We improve the estimation of the eigenvalues of AB for A>0, B>0, by this theorem, and from this theorem we give the matrix analogue of arithmetic mean-geometric mean, Holder, and Minkowski inequalities.

A Comprehensive Evaluation Model of Grade Separation

Abstract

he evaluation of grade separation discussed in this paper refers to a comparison and selection out of those plans after the evaluation of their feasibility. The evaluation takes into consideration not only the compromise and balance between the technical goal and the economic one, but also the restrictions and effects from social and enviromental factors. The evaluation maker thus can find the fittest evaluation pattern according to the information and materials at his disposal.
