Travelling-Wave Seismic Response of Long-Span Arch Bridges
    Xu Jinhua, Wang Xiangjian
    1998, 17(2): 1-5.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (63KB) ( )
In this paper, the travelling-wave effect on planar seismic responses of the long-span arch bridges is analysed based on the theory of multiple-support seismic excitations and the conception of pseudo-static displacement. The step-by-step integration method is applied considering the geomet rical nonlinearities and the p-Δeffect caused by the dead-load. The numerical result shows that the travelling-wave effect has serious influence on the long-span arch bridge and should be considered in engineering design.

The Design and Analysis of the Simple Beam-Arch Composite Bridge of the 100.5m Span
    Jin Xiaosi, Jin Chengdi
    1998, 17(2): 11-19.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (104KB) ( )
In the designing of the simple beam-arch composite bridge of the 100.5m span in the out Suzhou City Ring Road, Jiangsu Province, the results achieved by calculation, analysis of the structure, and test of the load on the real bridge is int roduced in this paper. We use steel pipe concrete for the arch rib, prest ressed concrete box beam for the stiffened girder, OVM anchorage and low relaxation tendon for the longitudinal prest ressed cable. In the construction of the bridge, the method of the beam first, the arch af terwards, and with little scaffords was used. The results of test have approximately coincide with the calculations and the chief section of the bridge had no crackles.

The Stress-Dependency Model and Result of Repeated Load Triaxial Test for Subgrade Soil
Ling Tianqing, Wang Shijie, Xu Zhihong, Wu Xiaofeng
    1998, 17(2): 26-31.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (69KB) ( )
It is evident that the responses of subgrade soil are non-linear and hence, with a large number of experiments and theoretical studies, this paper analyses the stress-dependency model of the resilient moduli and modifies the foreign widely-used model in existing deficiency and theorial inaccuracy. Based on the stress-dependency model, using the repeated load triaxial test, the paper analyses the stress-dependency of the subgrade soil resilient moduli for the first time in China.

Flow Features of Sharp Bend in Mountain River
    Zhou Huajun, Deng Guixiang
    1998, 17(2): 90-94.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (64KB) ( )
Flow features of sharp bend in mountain river are investigated in this article. The theorectical relationships to predict the rise in the upstream flow depth and maximum width of backflow zone are derived on the basis of the energy and momentum principles. The proposed relationships are verified by the results of experiments for a right-angled sharp bend. It shows that the depth rise and maximum width of backflow zone depend on froude number and bend angle. And the explicit approximate relationships for calculating the depth rise and maximum width of backflow zone are presented.

    Feng Chun
    1998, 17(2): 131-134.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (49KB) ( )
In this paper, a new solution Bk(z) of Airy equation related with the Orr-Sommerfeld equation is presented by modifying the laplaces method, and the generalization of Bk(z) is just the function Bk(z,p,q). Thus, it shows complementarily why the Bk(z,p,q) can expand the Orr-Sommerfeld equation for the uniformly valid asymptotic expansion of its two singular inviscial solutions in theory and complete extracting solutions on the Orr-Sommerfeld equation about the analysis of hydrodynamic stability .
