On the Theory of Small Platic Region for A Power Hardening Material
    Jiang Guobin, Zhai Zhendong
    1988, 7(2): 10-16.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (400KB) ( )
In the case of sub-brittle fracture, at the crack tip there is a small plastic region of which effect should not be neglected. In this paper, the authors consider that both the crack length and the stress at infinity change are due to plasticity, and compared the results calculated by five different methods.

An Approximation Method for Calculatign lateral Forces Due to Longtudinal Prestressing in Trapezoidal Concrete Box Section
    Zhang Shiduo
    1988, 7(2): 31-38.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (387KB) ( )
In this paper, special behavior of single-cell trapezoidal box section is discussed particularly with longer cantilever slabs. Then, investigational reports on box section and other section in the United States and Canada are given with dimensions on cross-sections as well. An approximate methos is developed to compute the lateral forces due to longitudinal pretressing considering the losses due to frictionand wabbling effect. An illustrative example shows the procedures for estimating the lateral forces in top and bottom slabs.

The Analysis of Space Large Defletion in Cable-stayed Bridges
    Wang Xiangjian
    1988, 7(2): 39-47.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (484KB) ( )
In this paper, second order nonlinear analgsis is incre ased on the basis of refeve-nce[1]. Large displacement stiffness matrix of the eccentric space thin-walled giroler and space combinad cable element were derived. nonlinear analysis of large deflection used non-move coordinate system, so that the static contribution of elastic stiffness, geometric stiffness and large displacement stiffness can be determined Separately. Nonlinear static equations are solued by modified NewtoN-RapsoN method, Lastly, the numerical examples are given.

Development Trend in Cable-stayed Bridges to Long-span
    Qu Qinglu
    1988, 7(2): 67-72.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (376KB) ( )
This paper enumerates the present situation of over 30 cable-stayed bridges which have been built in the world. Based on the analysis of the development history of cable-stayed bridges with steel-beams, prcstressed concrete beams and composite beams, and of cable-stayed bridges with singletowers, the author presents the analysis of development trend in modern cable-stayed bridges to long-span for reference.

Mearsurement of Poisson's Ratio of Composite by Real-time Laser Holograph
    Xie Dong
    1988, 7(2): 73-77.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (1024KB) ( )
In this paper, a method for measuring Poisson's ratio of composite by real-time laser holograph is introduced. The fundamental principle of the method is described briefly. Some specimens made of ID aligned fiber with 0° and 90° angle CFRP and GRP plates are measured. It is understood that the method is very convenient and especially suitable for materials with rough surface and low value of Poisson's ratio.

A Study on the Properties of Resisting Low Temperature Cracking of Asphaltic Mixture with Wast Rubber Powder
    Fan Tongjiang
    1988, 7(2): 78-89.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (920KB) ( )
The subject of this study is mainly to investigate the effect of improving the property of common asphaltic mixture when an appropriate amount of waste rubber powders are added on resisting low temperature cracking with the split cylinder test, the little beam bending test, the bhringkage test and unconfined compressive stress test of laboratory-compacted specimens. The results obtained from a series of tests show that the addition of 3-5% (by weight of mixtures) waste rubber powders to bituminous concrete reduces the resilient modulus and increases the deformation at low-temperature upto four times respectively, and the glass translating temperatures are droped down ten more degree centigrade than the asphalt concrete without any waste rubber powders. It goes without saying that the ability to resist low-temperature cracking of asphalt concrete has been greatly strengthened. Therefore, it's propounded that the materials above mentioned may be suitable for use of building the high-type road in the cold northern sector of our cou ntry.

Design Rules for Coastal Engineering And Standard of City Flood Control
    Yang Bingzheng
    1988, 7(2): 90-97.
    Abstract ( )   PDF (643KB) ( )
The design of any city flood control project must be based on reliable hydrologic studies. For cities near coast, it is necessary not only to know the regulation of the flood regimen of a stream, but also to be concerned largely with wave action, tide movement, ocean currents and similar phenomena. Therefore, the investigation and analysis of the rules will be greatly conducive to the design of coastal engineering, and also be important in preparation of the national standard of the city flood control.
